Our Office Policy Regarding Insurance
Here at Island Family Medical Practice we are “in network” with most insurance plans.
The meaning of an “in network” provider is that Island Family Medical Practice is contracted with your insurance plan to only charge the fee's that have been agreed upon by Island Family Medical Practice and your insurance carrier. The only charges you will be responsible for is your deductible, copays and co-insurance, which have been determined by your insurance carrier and/or employer, as well as any services that your insurance carrier may not cover. However, when going to an “out of network” or “non-participating” provider you will be paying the providers own office fees, which is not regulated by your insurance carrier and in most cases substantially higher than the regulated fees. Depending on the type of plan you have you may need to select a (PCP) Primary Care Physican, This change must happen on or before your visit to prevent from you recieving any unnecessary charges from our office.
By understanding how your insurance works makes your experience at your doctors visit easier. If you should need any assistance with making this change please call our office and one of our staff will be able to help you. Island Family Medical Practice always sends for pre-approval for any service that requires prior authorization with your insurance plan prior to the treatment. Island Family Medical practice works with your coverage which helps us keep your “out of pocket” expense to a minimum. Please also be aware that no insurance carrier will ever give a 100% guaranteed for payment until the services have been completed and the insurance carrier receives the claim. This is not Island Family Medical Practices' policy; it is your insurance carrier’s policy. Should you have any questions please contact your insurance company for more information on your coverage .
